Senior Software Systems Engineer (IoT)

Location: Marlborough, Massachusetts, USA; hybrid schedule with 3 days onsite

Salary: $111,000–$150,000 annually, plus bonus

What you will do

• Drive technical execution for connected product software programs from concept through release and field support.
• Work across embedded firmware, mobile applications, cloud services, backend integrations, and APIs.
• Contribute to software architecture, system design, requirements, workflows, and feature behavior.
• Coordinate technical activities with firmware, mobile, cloud, QA, regulatory, and external development teams.
• Review designs and technical tradeoffs, support verification and validation, and improve release readiness.
• Prototype, debug, script, investigate cross-functional issues, maintain technical consistency, and drive risks to closure.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 4+ years of software engineering experience with strong systems-level thinking and debugging skills.
• Experience with embedded systems or connected devices and multiple software layers, including firmware, mobile, backend, APIs, or cloud.
• Ability to understand and troubleshoot hardware-software interactions, work independently, and take ownership of technical problems.
• Strong communication and organizational skills in ambiguous and fast-moving environments.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice to have

• Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy, IoT systems, or cloud-connected products.
• Mobile application development experience with iOS, Android, Flutter, or similar technologies.
• Experience in regulated industries such as medical devices, including verification, traceability, and software lifecycle processes.
• Experience with external development partners, offshore teams, Git workflows, CI/CD, or embedded firmware development in C/C++.
