Staff Embedded Software Engineer (Hybrid - Acton, MA)

Location: Hybrid in Acton, Massachusetts, with on-site work at an hirify.global office at least three days per week.

Annual base salary for U.S.-based positions: $152,000–$227,975, with potential incentive compensation.

hirify.global is a medical device company developing the Omnipod insulin management platform and other wearable drug-delivery solutions for people with diabetes and other conditions.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and document embedded software for new and existing medical products.
• Create and maintain software design documentation and testing requirements.
• Ensure software development activities meet company, technical, regulatory, and manufacturing requirements.
• Collaborate with Quality, Regulatory, Marketing, Manufacturing, software QA, and hardware engineering teams.
• Integrate, debug, and test embedded systems and participate in product design reviews.
• Direct and mentor junior engineers when requested.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Software Engineering.
• 7+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong programming skills in C and familiarity with embedded C++.
• Hands-on experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and processors such as ARM, TI, or MSP.
• Knowledge of software design, real-time systems, RTOS concepts, threading, interrupts, deadlocks, and mutual exclusion.
• Familiarity with communication systems or wireless protocols, including Bluetooth Low Energy, and the ability to read electrical schematics.

Nice to have

• Experience with I2C, SPI, Flash, EEPROM, or USB.
• Medical device development experience.
• In-depth knowledge of resource-constrained object-oriented programming in embedded C++.
• Agile or other software development lifecycle experience.
