Software Engineer (Java, OpenFGA)

Location: Hybrid in Rosslyn, Virginia; onsite twice a week

Salary: $165,000–$175,000 per year

What you will do

• Build and maintain distributed backend microservices for enterprise AI operations and Hub-and-Spoke architectures.
• Develop the OpenFGA wrapper service, supporting tools, API endpoints, business logic, and data model management.
• Design and optimize RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures for scalable and reliable data flow.
• Integrate microservices with cloud-native platforms and support continuous monitoring and operational reliability.
• Write unit and integration tests, debug defects, and participate in code reviews and team ceremonies.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, documentation, code examples, and technical onboarding support.

Requirements

• Must hold a Secret clearance before starting.
• 10+ years of professional experience.
• Hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency with core AWS services.
• High school diploma or equivalent GED.

Nice to have

• Experience collaborating with AI, DevSecOps, data engineering, platform engineering, and cybersecurity teams.
• Familiarity with Django, NATS, Kafka, Redis, ClickHouse, OpenTelemetry, OpenRouter, or LiteLLM.
• Experience working in fast-paced, mission-focused environments.
