Project Engineer (Gas)

Location: Southborough, Massachusetts, United States. Regular travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire is required, including visits to operating districts, gas facilities, construction sites, and customer properties. Emergency restoration assignments may require work outside normal hours and locations.

Annual salary: $116,370–$129,300, plus potential incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Plan, design, schedule, and execute gas distribution and pressure-regulating system projects, including major and complex assignments.
• Prepare site layouts, procurement and permitting documents, construction specifications, bids, schedules, and purchase orders.
• Coordinate internal teams, contractors, customers, municipalities, state authorities, and suppliers throughout project delivery.
• Monitor project progress, budgets, costs, resources, materials, equipment delivery, and schedule changes.
• Oversee construction activities and maintain field procedures to ensure compliance with company standards, safety requirements, codes, and regulations.
• Provide direction to junior staff and support management with budget development, cost tracking, and project reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
• At least five years of related engineering experience.
• Thorough knowledge of gas distribution construction and maintenance practices and applicable governmental codes and regulations.
• Knowledge of welding and fusing principles, environmental requirements, construction hazards, and gas facility operations.
• Ability to travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire and respond to emergency restoration assignments.
