TL;DR
Engineer I/II/III (Pipeline Design) (Natural Gas/Pipeline Engineering): Supporting intermediate pipeline engineering projects through design evaluation, technical studies, project cost tracking, and contractor supervision with an accent on engineering standards, field operations, and high-pressure gas facilities. Focus on developing project proposals, managing budgets and forecasts, and solving engineering challenges across natural gas sites in New Mexico.

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico, with field and office work at various job sites across New Mexico. Travel is required up to 25%.

Salary: Engineer I — $73,440–$91,800; Engineer II — $88,640–$110,800; Engineer III — $104,960–$131,200 per year.

What you will do

  • Provide engineering expertise for intermediate, generally conventional pipeline and operational projects.
  • Evaluate project performance, costs, schedules, and alternatives using established engineering practices.
  • Provide technical support and direction to company personnel and contractors.
  • Prepare monthly project financial reports covering budgets, forecasts, work offers, invoices, and actuals.
  • Communicate project proposals, status updates, recommendations, and evaluations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in developing company and industry engineering standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an ABET-accredited engineering program, including mechanical, civil, chemical, petroleum, metallurgy/material science, electrical, or construction engineering.
  • Engineer I: no experience required; the degree may be obtained within three months of hire, with unofficial transcripts submitted.
  • Engineer II: two years of engineering experience, or one year with a master’s degree; Fundamentals of Engineering certification required.
  • Engineer III: five years of engineering experience, or three years with a master’s degree; Professional Engineer license required.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to work around high-pressure gas facilities, equipment, and pipelines, perform field duties with protective equipment, travel across New Mexico, and respond on call as needed.

Nice to have

  • Fundamentals of Engineering certification for Engineer I.
  • Mechanical, civil, petroleum, or chemical engineering degree.
  • Utilities engineering or consulting engineering experience in the natural gas industry.
