Project Engineer Senior/Principal (Power Generation)

Location: On-site in Columbus, Ohio or Huntington, West Virginia; open to qualified candidates throughout the AEP footprint. Travel up to 25% outside Ohio during construction.

Salary: $110,000–$151,000 per year for Senior and Principal grades. The broader compensation range is $98,993–$151,132.50.

What you will do

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering activities for new-build and major retrofit generation projects.
• Develop and manage engineering work plans, schedules, design reviews, and technical deliverables.
• Coordinate AEP engineering, operations, IT, developers, architects and engineers, OEMs, contractors, and regulatory stakeholders.
• Respond to requests for information and provide technical leadership throughout conceptual design, detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Support construction and project closeout while tracking engineering progress and communicating updates to stakeholders.
• Travel to AEP generation facilities, including occasional overnight trips.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or an accepted alternative involving an engineering master’s or PhD.
• Senior level: typically 4+ years of related engineering experience; Principal level: typically 8+ years.
• Master’s or PhD pathways may reduce the required experience for Senior and Principal grades.
• Professional Engineer registration in a U.S. state or Puerto Rico is preferred for Senior and generally required for Principal unless waived.
• Experience overseeing multidisciplinary engineering work is preferred; mechanical engineers and mechanical engineering technologists are preferred.
• Ability to work on-site in Columbus, Ohio or Huntington, West Virginia and travel within the AEP footprint.
