Senior Systems Engineer (AWS Data Engineer)

Location: 100% remote within the United States; candidates from California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, or Washington will not be considered.

Salary: $85,389–$116,975 per year

What you will do

• Lead modernization of a healthcare data platform and migrate MSSQL XML object-store data to a cloud-native AWS architecture.
• Evaluate and select AWS storage, query, analytics, and reporting services based on performance, cost, scalability, and business requirements.
• Design SQL reporting and query layers for business stakeholders and non-technical users.
• Build data catalogs, schemas, metadata, partitioning, storage formats, and query optimizations for XML data.
• Integrate EDI processing pipelines with the new data layer in collaboration with a C#/.NET backend engineer.
• Implement CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code using AWS-native tooling, CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required, and candidates must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI).
• 8+ years of software or data engineering experience with a strong AWS focus.
• Production experience architecting cloud data platform migrations in enterprise or healthcare environments.
• Hands-on experience with AWS data services including S3, Athena, Glue, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, OpenSearch, Lambda, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• Strong SQL and XML skills, including querying and transforming semi-structured data at scale.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Agile methodologies, business requirements analysis, and technical documentation.

Nice to have

• AWS certifications.
• Experience with EDI X12 medical claims, HL7, FHIR, healthcare payer or PBM systems, and HIPAA-compliant cloud architecture.
• Familiarity with C#/.NET integration services and Entity Framework migration or deprecation projects.
