Lead Engineer - Data (Data Engineering)

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid working model with work from home and on-site presence at hirify.global offices or client locations

Salary: $140,000–$152,500

What you will do

• Design, build, and optimize scalable, reliable data architectures and systems.
• Translate cross-functional data requirements into data engineering and architecture solutions.
• Develop software processes for moving data between warehouses, lakes, and internal systems.
• Design and optimize ETL pipelines, data ingestion frameworks, data quality frameworks, and audit systems.
• Establish data quality and governance practices to maintain data accuracy, integrity, and security.
• Provide technical leadership, communicate recommendations to stakeholders, and mentor junior Data Engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• 8–10+ years of data engineering experience designing and implementing scalable, high-performance data systems.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other relevant programming languages.
• Experience with data warehousing, cloud data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, ETL, data modeling, and database management.
• Familiarity with Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and data integration tools, plus strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
• Fluency in English and the ability to obtain or possess work authorization for Canada are required. Ability to travel to other offices or client locations as needed.
