Senior Systems Engineer (AWS Data Engineer)

Location: Remote within the United States; candidates from California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, or Washington will not be considered.

Salary: $85,389–$116,975 per year

What you will do

• Lead modernization of a healthcare data platform and migrate MSSQL XML object-store data to AWS.
• Evaluate and select AWS storage, query, analytics, and search services based on performance, cost, scalability, and reporting requirements.
• Design SQL reporting and query layers for business stakeholders and non-technical users.
• Define storage formats, partitioning, schemas, catalogs, metadata, and data models for performant querying.
• Collaborate with backend C#/.NET engineering on EDI processing and data-layer integration.
• Implement CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code using AWS-native tooling, CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required, and candidates must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI) clearance.
• 8+ years of software or data engineering experience with a strong AWS focus.
• Experience architecting production cloud data-platform migrations in enterprise or healthcare environments.
• Hands-on experience with AWS data services including S3, Athena, Glue, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, OpenSearch, Lambda, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• Strong SQL, XML, data modeling, analytics, and reporting experience for non-technical users.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, IaC, Agile methods, JIRA, technical documentation, and communicating architecture decisions.

Nice to have

• AWS certifications.
• Experience with EDI X.12 medical claims, HL7, FHIR, healthcare payer or PBM systems, clearinghouses, or pharmacy operations.
• Familiarity with C#/.NET integration services and Entity Framework migration or deprecation projects.
• Knowledge of HIPAA requirements for cloud data architecture.
