Senior Data Platform Engineer

Location: Washington, D.C.; hybrid work with flexibility to work from home and access to company offices

Salary: $145,000–$190,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Architect, provision, and maintain secure cloud-based data storage and platform infrastructure using Terraform and Helm.
• Design and operate resilient real-time streaming and batch data pipelines from ingestion through production applications.
• Build monitoring and alerting for data health, infrastructure performance, bottlenecks, and pipeline reliability.
• Partner with application teams to troubleshoot database queries, pipeline logic, and data-related issues.
• Establish data governance, integrity, security, and platform engineering best practices across teams.
• Support MLOps through AI model versioning, containerization, and deployment.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a data-driven role and a bachelor’s or master’s degree in science, mathematics, engineering, or a data-driven field.
• Strong Python or equivalent scripting, automation, and tooling experience.
• Experience designing scalable relational and non-relational SQL/NoSQL schemas, including query tuning, indexing, and execution plan analysis.
• Hands-on experience with AWS data services such as RDS, Aurora, or Lambda, or Azure equivalents, plus Terraform and/or Helm.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, container observability, resource allocation, and cluster health.
• Experience with Dagster or Apache Airflow, Git, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and production deployments.
