Senior Systems Engineer (AWS Data Engineer)

Location: 100% remote within the United States; candidates from California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington will not be considered.

What you will do

• Lead modernization of a healthcare data platform and migrate MSSQL XML object-store data to AWS.
• Evaluate and select AWS storage, analytics, and query services based on reporting needs, cost, performance, and scalability.
• Design relational SQL reporting and query layers for business stakeholders and non-technical users.
• Define migration strategies, storage formats, partitioning, schemas, catalogs, metadata, and data dictionaries.
• Optimize query performance and cost across AWS data services.
• Collaborate with C#/.NET engineers on EDI processing pipelines and implement CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software or data engineering experience with a strong AWS focus.
• Production experience architecting cloud data platform migrations, preferably in enterprise or healthcare environments.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including S3, Athena, Glue, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, OpenSearch, Lambda, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with XML, JSON, semi-structured data, reporting, and analytics solutions.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, and Infrastructure as Code using CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Public Trust (MBI) are required.

Nice to have

• AWS certifications.
• Experience with EDI X.12 medical claims, HL7, FHIR, healthcare payer or PBM systems, clearinghouses, and pharmacy operations.
• Knowledge of HIPAA requirements in cloud data architecture.
• Familiarity with C#/.NET backend services and Entity Framework migration or deprecation projects.
