Senior Systems Engineer (AWS Data Engineer)

Location: 100% remote within the United States; candidates from California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington will not be considered.

Salary: $85,389–$116,975 per year

What you will do

• Lead modernization of a healthcare data platform from an MSSQL XML object store to a cloud-native AWS architecture.
• Evaluate and select AWS storage and query services, including S3, Athena, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, and OpenSearch.
• Design SQL reporting and query layers for business stakeholders and non-technical users.
• Architect XML data migration strategies, including storage formats, partitioning, schemas, catalogs, and metadata.
• Optimize query performance and infrastructure costs across AWS services.
• Implement CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code with AWS tooling, CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform, while collaborating on EDI data flows.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI) security clearance.
• 8+ years of software or data engineering experience with a strong AWS focus.
• Experience architecting production cloud data migrations in enterprise or healthcare environments.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with XML and JSON data at scale.
• Hands-on experience with AWS data, analytics, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code services, plus Git and collaborative development workflows.

Nice to have

• AWS certifications.
• Experience with EDI X.12 medical claims, HL7, FHIR, payer or PBM systems, clearinghouses, or pharmacy operations.
• Familiarity with C#/.NET, Entity Framework migrations, and HIPAA requirements.
