C# Developer (.NET)

Location: 100% remote within the United States; candidates from California, Colorado, Illinois, New Jersey, or New York will not be considered. The role supports the Department of Veterans Affairs and is based administratively in Tysons Corner, Virginia.

What you will do

• Plan, design, integrate, test, deploy, maintain, and support software systems and subsystems.
• Develop .NET backend applications in C# using MVC architecture, RESTful APIs, databases, and Entity Framework.
• Build reusable software components and implement long-term solutions within Agile development frameworks.
• Implement unit testing, test automation, CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, performance tuning, and application security practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and development colleagues, participate in daily stand-ups, and document software designs.
• Provide production support and mentor junior developers through technical guidance.

Requirements

• Five or more years of professional software development experience using .NET technologies, including experience with complex enterprise applications and development initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree with eight or more years of experience, master’s degree with five or more years, or Ph.D. with three or more years in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• U.S. citizenship is required, and candidates must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI) security clearance.
• Strong experience with C#, .NET Framework, .NET Core, MVC, object-oriented programming, design patterns, RESTful APIs, SQL Server, and Entity Framework.
• Experience with Git or TFS/TFVC, unit testing frameworks such as NUnit, xUnit, or MSTest, Visual Studio, Agile methodologies, CI/CD, DevOps, and infrastructure as code.
• Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, prioritization, and problem-solving skills, with attention to software quality and security.

Nice to have

• Experience with EDI X.12 medical claims, including 837, 834, and 277 transactions.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization technologies such as Kubernetes, ECS, or EKS.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, AWS, third-party .NET libraries, SDKs, and related APIs.
