Certified Medical Coder (Medical Coding)

Location: Remote within Washington, USA; onsite onboarding and equipment pickup required for 2 days only.

Salary: $26.74–$41.35 USD per hour.

What you will do

• Review medical records and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier codes.
• Abstract coding data and transmit abstracts according to requirements.
• Research Coding Clinics and resolve CCI, LCD, NCD, and modifier edits.
• Support payer and RAC audits, including preparing rebuttal letters when needed.
• Collaborate with Revenue Integrity, Compliance, providers, and clinical staff to resolve coding issues.
• Review accounts and charges in EPIC, Cerner, or Meditech EHR systems.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree is preferred.
• At least 1 year of coding experience required.
• One of the following certifications: RHIT, CCS, RHIA, CPC, CPC-H, CPC-A, or CCA.
• Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT coding, medical terminology, insurance billing, and coding guidelines.
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Must be available for remote work within Washington, USA and onsite onboarding and equipment pickup for 2 days.

Nice to have

• Associate degree.
• Experience with EPIC EHR.
• Knowledge of DRGs for inpatient facility coding.
• Training or experience in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
