Forensic Medical Coder

Location: Remote within the United States; travel to and work onsite at client, temporary, or corporate office locations may be required as business needs demand.

Salary: $24.65–$27.10 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

• Perform root cause analysis of front-end and back-end coding opportunities.
• Support or lead coding opportunity improvement projects and special coding initiatives.
• Research coding requirements for new client service lines and provide coding guidance.
• Deliver coding and documentation education to providers, physicians, managers, peers, and coding teams.
• Monitor payer guidelines, Correct Coding Initiative edits, and Local and National Coverage Determinations.
• Assist with coder training, compliance activities, meetings, and workflow improvement.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of coding experience; 5 years preferred.
• Expert knowledge of physician front-end and back-end coding across multiple specialties, including experience in at least one listed specialty such as general surgery, podiatry, urology, cardiology, trauma, orthopedics, vascular, or reproductive endocrinology.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Experience with EPIC and coding software tools; dual certification is expected.
• Strong analytical, communication, organization, time-management, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Required certification: AAPC CPC or AHIMA CCS; minimum education is a high school diploma or GED.
