Senior Coder - Outpatient (Medical Coding)

Healthcare organization providing hospital and health-system services through Allegheny Health Network.

What you will do

• Review medical records, physician treatment plans, clinical courses, and outcomes to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes.
• Abstract medical and demographic data for hospital, health-system, and medical-staff reporting needs.
• Enter coded and abstracted information into designated systems.
• Support efficient management of medical information and cash flow related to unbilled coding reports.
• Monitor changes to coding guidelines and apply updates in daily work.
• Act as a mentor and subject matter expert for other coders.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Five years of hospital and/or physician coding experience.
• One year of coding experience across specialties and service lines.
• Extensive knowledge of trauma, teaching, and observation coding guidelines.
• Completed coursework in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• One of the following certifications: CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC, or COC.

Nice to have

• Associate's degree.
