Coder - Outpatient (ICD-10/CPT)

Healthcare organization providing health services and managing medical information and billing operations.

What you will do

• Review medical records, treatment plans, diagnoses, procedures, and outcomes.
• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for outpatient services.
• Abstract medical and demographic data for hospital, health system, and medical staff reporting.
• Enter coded information into designated systems and support efficient management of unbilled accounts.
• Monitor changes to coding guidelines and apply updates in daily work.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completed coursework in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• At least one year of hospital or physician coding experience, including coding at mid-level facilities or clinics.
• At least one year of experience coding major surgeries, observations, and/or evaluation and management services.
• Strong data entry skills, computer application knowledge, and ability to work with healthcare teams.
• One of the listed credentials: RHIT, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC, COC, or CPC-A.

Nice to have

• Associate degree in Health Information Management or a related field.
