Backend Engineer (Data Infrastructure)

Location: Remote across the Americas

Salary: $115,000–$130,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines across Salesforce, PostgreSQL, Kafka, internal APIs, and other hirify.global systems.
• Own Kubernetes-based infrastructure, including Helm, OpenTofu, GitHub Actions, deployment tooling, secrets management, and cluster health.
• Improve infrastructure reliability through incident response, observability, troubleshooting, and proactive stability work.
• Maintain PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, query performance, data modeling, and data integrity.
• Build internal tools and integrations connecting third-party SaaS platforms to hirify.global OS.
• Contribute to CI/CD standards, testing, code reviews, documentation, and regular production delivery in an agile team.

Requirements

• Professional experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines, including ingestion, transformation, and delivery to downstream consumers.
• Strong PostgreSQL and Python skills for data engineering, automation, schema design, migrations, and query optimization.
• Production experience with Kubernetes, including Helm, kubectl, workload debugging, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as OpenTofu or Terraform.
• Familiarity with AWS services including S3, RDS, Lambda, and IAM.
• Strong understanding of agentic development, observability, reliability, debugging, and troubleshooting in team environments.
• Experience with agile product teams and the ability to communicate technical tradeoffs clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS EKS, Prometheus, Grafana, Salesforce data structures, or CRM integrations.
• Knowledge of financial or investment data, including venture capital or startup portfolio management.
• Experience with Airflow or similar data orchestration tools.
• JavaScript or TypeScript experience for backend services.
• Previous work at a startup, accelerator, or investment firm.
