Software Engineer II, Backend (Post-Transaction)

Location: Remote within the United States

Base pay: $165,000–$225,000 USD annually in CA, WA, NY, NJ, and CT; $146,000–$206,000 USD annually in all other U.S. states.

What you will do

• Design, develop, launch, and operate backend systems for post-transaction card processing.
• Break down larger projects into tasks, deliver work in phases, and collaborate with engineering and partner teams.
• Partner with product management, design, analytics, compliance, and cross-functional teams on technical decisions, risks, and trade-offs.
• Create and monitor operational metrics, support availability, and participate in on-call and keep-the-lights-on efforts.
• Contribute to engineering quality through code reviews, debugging, interviews, and growth activities.

Requirements

• 1.5+ years of software engineering experience or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
• Proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiarity with distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Ability to write clear, well-tested, extensible code and work across a large codebase.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience, plus strong written and verbal communication skills.
