Senior Software Engineer (Java, Spring Boot)

Location: Manchester, United Kingdom; hybrid with in-office presence twice a week

What you will do

• Build and maintain platform features and services from design through deployment.
• Contribute to early-stage infrastructure and prototyping for a new engineering hub.
• Shape squad-level architecture, service boundaries, and technical direction.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, pairing, knowledge sharing, and onboarding.
• Champion DevOps, CI/CD, automation, observability, testing, and security practices.
• Participate in incident management rotations and provide technical support during high-pressure situations.

Requirements

• Solid hands-on software engineering experience across frontend and backend development.
• Experience with Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, TypeScript, and React.
• Experience designing services using microservices or domain-driven architecture and asynchronous, event-driven communication.
• Experience with CI/CD, containerisation, modern DevOps practices, security, and production operations.
• Experience mentoring engineers, communicating technical ideas clearly, and documenting decisions.
• Experience in a product-led agile environment, including incident management or on-call responsibilities.

Nice to have

• Media, audio streaming, or consumer platform experience.
• Interest in AI-assisted development tooling.
