Senior Software Engineer (Node/AWS)

Location: Bristol, UK; hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office

What you will do

• Design, develop, and support scalable backend services, APIs, and AWS serverless applications.
• Build integrations with internal and external systems and enhance customer data platform capabilities.
• Improve platform resilience, observability, performance, security, and scalability.
• Contribute to React-based applications and take ownership of features from design through production support.
• Participate in architecture discussions, technical design sessions, code reviews, and collaboration with Product, Platform, and Engineering teams.
• Use automation, continuous improvement, and AI-assisted tooling to improve software delivery.

Requirements

• Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, React, and API design and development.
• Experience with AWS, serverless application development, event-driven architectures, and integrations.
• Experience with DynamoDB, JSON data processing, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of scalable, distributed, cloud-native software environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Must work from the Bristol office at least 2 days per week; employment sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• GraphQL API design, federation, schema design, or REST-to-GraphQL migrations.
• Experience with Typesense, Elasticsearch, Contentful, OAuth, LaunchDarkly, Grafana, or cross-account AWS architectures.
• Experience with micro-frontends, TanStack Query, Zustand, Vite, Tailwind CSS, or AI-assisted development workflows.
• Financial services experience.
