TL;DR
Engine Thrust Chamber Engineer (Aerospace) (liquid-propellant rocket engines): Designing and analysing injector heads, combustion chambers, and nozzles with an accent on reacting CFD, combustion and cooling analysis, and manufacturable component development. Focus on validating models against hot-fire test data, planning integrated engine test campaigns, and scaling production of high-pressure thrust chamber assemblies.

Location: Parsdorf, Bavaria, Germany; on-site work with occasional travel for test and launch operations

Company

hirify.global develops launch vehicles for small and medium-sized satellites and constellations in Low Earth Orbit.

What you will do

  • Design injector heads and elements, combustion chambers, and nozzles for pump-fed liquid-propellant engines.
  • Perform trade-off studies and define the technical roadmap for thrust chamber assemblies.
  • Create and validate subcomponent models using test data.
  • Conduct injection, combustion, and cooling CFD studies for injector and cooling-channel designs.
  • Plan, execute, and analyse subcomponent and integrated engine test campaigns.
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, fast to produce, and scalable.

Requirements

  • MSc in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a comparable technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Several years of experience designing liquid rocket engine components.
  • Strong knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and combustion physics.
  • Significant experience with reacting CFD for injectors and combustion chambers, including gas/gas or gas/liquid injectors in high-pressure rocket combustors.
  • Experience analysing test data from rocket combustors or comparable hardware.
  • Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or a comparable programming language, and in 3D CAD; fluent English is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience planning and organising test campaigns with multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing, CNC machining, brazing, welding, or casting.
  • Experience correlating models against hot-fire test data.

Culture & Benefits

  • Fast design, build, and test cycles in a space-technology environment.
  • Virtual company share program.
  • 30 days of vacation and a company pension plan with a 20% employer contribution after the probation period.
  • Subsidised lunches, a fully financed Deutschlandticket, and rental workwear with laundry service.
  • Sponsored sports club membership, an individual learning budget after the probation period, and childcare allowance.
