Project Engineer Senior/Principal

Location: On-site in Columbus, Ohio or Moundsville, West Virginia; open to qualified candidates throughout the AEP footprint. Travel up to 25% outside Ohio during construction.

Salary: $110,000–$151,000 per year for Senior and Principal levels. The compensation range is $98,993.00–$151,132.50.

What you will do

• Serve as the AEP engineering lead for complex, multidisciplinary generation capital projects across the full project lifecycle.
• Develop and manage engineering work plans and lead engineering design reviews.
• Coordinate engineering activities among AEP teams, developers, architects and engineers, OEMs, EPC contractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
• Support procurement, construction, commissioning, project closeout, and responses to requests for information.
• Lead engineering meetings and provide regular progress updates to project teams and stakeholders.
• Travel to AEP generation facilities, including occasional overnight trips.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or an accepted equivalent educational pathway.
• Senior level: typically 4 or more years of related engineering experience, or 2 years with a relevant master’s degree or PhD.
• Principal level: typically 8 or more years of related engineering experience, or 6 years with a relevant master’s degree or PhD.
• Mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology background is preferred.
• Experience overseeing multidisciplinary engineering work is preferred.
• Professional Engineer registration is encouraged for Senior level and preferred for Principal level.
