Project Engineer Senior/Principal (Power Generation)

Location: Onsite in Charleston, West Virginia or Columbus, Ohio; open to qualified candidates throughout the AEP footprint. Travel up to 25% outside Ohio during construction.

Salary: Engineer Senior SG8: $110,000–$129,000 per year; Engineer Principal SG9: $116,000–$151,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering activities for utility-scale generation capital projects across the full project lifecycle.
• Develop and manage engineering work plans, design reviews, and responses to requests for information.
• Coordinate engineering work among AEP teams, developers, architects and engineers, OEMs, EPC contractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
• Support procurement, construction, commissioning, and project closeout activities.
• Schedule and lead engineering meetings and provide progress updates to project teams and stakeholders.
• Travel to AEP generation facilities, including occasional overnight trips.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or an acceptable equivalent degree path.
• Senior level: typically 4+ years of related engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 2+ years with a master’s degree or PhD.
• Principal level: typically 8+ years of related engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 6+ years with a master’s degree or PhD.
• Mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology experience is preferred.
• Experience overseeing multidisciplinary engineering work is preferred.
• Professional Engineer registration is encouraged for Senior and preferred for Principal roles.
