Project Engineer Senior/Principal (Power Generation)

Location: Onsite in Columbus, Ohio; open to qualified candidates throughout the AEP footprint. Travel up to 25% outside Ohio during construction.

Salary: $110,000–$129,000 for Engineer Senior SG8; $116,000–$151,000 for Engineer Principal SG9. Compensation range: $98,993–$151,132.50 per year.

What you will do

• Lead engineering activities for complex, multidisciplinary generation capital projects across the full project lifecycle.
• Develop and manage engineering work plans and lead engineering design reviews.
• Coordinate work among internal engineering, operations, and technology teams; developers; architects and engineers; OEMs; EPC contractors; and regulatory agencies.
• Support procurement, construction, commissioning, and project closeout activities.
• Lead engineering meetings, respond to requests for information, and provide progress updates to project stakeholders.
• Travel to AEP generation facilities as needed, including occasional overnight trips.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or an accepted equivalent involving an engineering master’s or PhD.
• Senior level: typically 4+ years of related engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 2 years with a master’s or PhD.
• Principal level: typically 8+ years of related engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 6 years with a master’s or PhD.
• Mechanical engineers and mechanical engineering technologists are preferred; experience overseeing multidisciplinary engineering work is preferred.
• Professional Engineer registration is encouraged for Senior and preferred for Principal positions in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico.
• Onsite presence in Columbus, Ohio and travel up to 25% outside Ohio during construction are required.
