Middle Market Commercial Underwriter, Account Executive

Location: Columbus, Ohio, United States; regular in-person meetings with agents and brokers and travel required.

Annual salary: $89,800–$148,300 USD, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned commercial insurance book of business.
• Underwrite and negotiate customer accounts in line with risk appetite and profitability goals.
• Provide property, general liability, commercial auto, and workers’ compensation coverage for new and renewal business.
• Build relationships with agents, brokers, and internal partners to develop sales plans and cross-selling opportunities.
• Market and sell insurance products through regular meetings with external partners and required travel.
• Identify new business opportunities and execute agency, regional, and group sales plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least two years of experience in underwriting, claims, operations, risk assessment, actuarial work, sales, product, or finance.
• Three to five years of relevant underwriting experience, including commercial lines experience.
• Knowledge of commercial lines products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• CPCU designation.
