Plant Operator (Industrial Gases)

Location: Rockford, Illinois, United States; onsite plant work

Salary: $20 per hour

What you will do

• Safely operate equipment for handling and filling high-pressure, medical, and liquefied gas cylinders.
• Load and unload cylinders, sort empty cylinders, and move products using carts and forklifts.
• Prepare cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling, including manifold connection and evacuation.
• Inspect, label, clean, paint, and perform basic maintenance on cylinders.
• Complete safety checks, quality-control sheets, inventory checks, and documentation for DOT, FDA, OSHA, and hirify.global standards.
• Follow all requirements for the safe handling of hazardous materials and cylinder gases.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and cylinder labels.
• Ability to perform basic calculations involving whole numbers, fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, and percentages.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift; training may be provided.
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, grasp, and perform other physical plant-floor activities.
• Ability to regularly lift or move up to 60 pounds and move up to 800 pounds with material-handling equipment.

Nice to have

• Experience in manufacturing, filling, or loading operations.
• Familiarity with the gas, welding, safety supply, or chemical industry.
• Strong communication, customer service, collaboration, attention to detail, and safety awareness.
