Legal Counsel (Retail)

Location: Based five days a week at the Shirebrook HQ, Meadow Lane, Shirebrook, Mansfield, UK

What you will do

• Review, negotiate, draft, and advise on supplier and business partnership contracts across commercial, supply chain, concessions, events, marketing, ecommerce, franchising, licensing, IT, technology, outsourcing, and finance.
• Manage commercial disputes, litigation, customer complaints, small claims, and related regulatory matters.
• Advise on marketing and promotional activity, including CAP Code compliance, advertising, competitions, product packaging, and promotional terms and conditions.
• Support ecommerce operations and digital marketing, including legal aspects of website activity.
• Handle intellectual property matters, own-brand licensing, third-party licensing, and wholesale and concession agreements.
• Assist with M&A transactions, due diligence, SPA/APAs, ancillary documents, post-completion work, external counsel management, and supervision of junior team members.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience.
• Strong experience in commercial contract negotiation.
• Ability to provide commercially focused and pragmatic legal advice in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across all organisational levels.
• Collaborative approach and ability to support colleagues while supervising junior team members.
• Ability to work five days per week at the Shirebrook HQ in the UK.

Hiring process
