Laboratory Manager (Construction Materials Testing)

Location: Dallas, Texas, USA; onsite laboratory work at 1601 Elm St.

What you will do

• Set up and manage daily operations for a new construction materials and geotechnical testing laboratory.
• Perform, oversee, review, and report testing for soils, concrete, masonry, aggregate, asphalt, and related materials.
• Supervise laboratory technicians, coordinate workloads, identify bottlenecks, and meet testing and reporting deadlines.
• Lead laboratory accreditation for AASHTO re:source and TxDOT DMS-7400, including document control, audits, calibration records, competency records, and corrective actions.
• Manage equipment procurement, calibration, maintenance, repairs, laboratory supplies, safety procedures, and standard operating procedures.
• Coordinate sample intake, testing priorities, reporting, and communication with field staff, project managers, clients, contractors, and internal teams.

Requirements

• BA/BS in a related discipline, preferably civil engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5–10 years of hands-on construction materials or geotechnical laboratory testing experience, including experience leading and motivating technicians.
• Experience with process-driven operations and people management.
• ACI and NICET Construction Materials Testing certifications and TxDOT certifications are preferred; required certifications must be obtained within one year if not already held.
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work in dusty and noisy conditions, stand for extended periods, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

• Experience in soil and rock laboratory work.
• Mechanical aptitude for equipment troubleshooting and repairs.
