R&T Lab Technician (Composites)

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah, USA; onsite laboratory role

What you will do

• Perform technical laboratory work supporting engineers developing advanced materials.
• Set up equipment and conduct material tests and analyses according to standard procedures.
• Collect measurements using balances, calipers, universal testing machines, and other laboratory instruments.
• Calculate, document, and report test data, findings, observations, and discrepancies.
• Maintain experiment files, test records, equipment condition, and a clean and safe laboratory.
• Participate in EHS, 5S, calibration, maintenance, and related safety activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree in engineering technology, materials science, mechanical technology, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience with mechanical testing of materials, especially composites, polymers, honeycomb structures, adhesives, metals, or aerospace materials.
• Hands-on experience with Instron, Shimadzu, MTS, or equivalent universal testing systems is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with ASTM, ISO, and aerospace material test methods, specimen preparation, test fixtures, extensometers, strain measurement systems, and laboratory instrumentation.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, test procedures, and technical specifications; analyze and report accurate test data using basic statistics and Microsoft Excel.
