Process Engineering Laboratory Technician (Materials Science)

Location: Connecticut, Bethany - Building 3; onsite role with up to 15% travel

What you will do

• Perform laboratory testing on liquid and solid materials and document test results.
• Lead or support color matching for new product development, continuous improvement, and research projects.
• Use spectrophotometers and other laboratory instruments to evaluate product performance and build color databases.
• Support manufacturing investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and quality work instruction updates.
• Assist with process optimization, waste reduction, pilot batch production, and pilot plant experiments.
• Follow laboratory safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment.

Requirements

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering Technology, Materials Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 2–4+ years of laboratory, manufacturing, process support, or product testing experience.
• Experience with laboratory testing, color matching, color formulation, color correction software, and troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel for data collection and analysis; ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Must have or be able to obtain a passport and lift or carry at least 50 pounds.

Nice to have

• Experience with color science, X-Rite spectrophotometers, statistical analysis, and Design of Experiments.
• Leadership experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
