Senior Counsel, Asset Management

What you will do

• Advise the asset management business throughout the lifecycle of investment products, from design and structuring through launch and distribution.
• Provide practical legal guidance on securities law, investment fund regulation, governance, and emerging regulatory issues.
• Lead legal support for strategic projects by identifying legal and reputational risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
• Draft, review, and negotiate offering documents, commercial agreements, and other product-related materials.
• Partner with business, functional, and Legal Department stakeholders on complex and time-sensitive matters.
• Oversee external counsel relationships and escalate material legal or reputational issues when appropriate.

Requirements

• Called to the Bar in Ontario and qualified to practice law.
• At least 7 years of related experience at a leading law firm, major corporation, or asset management firm.
• Experience with securities law, investment fund regulation, governance, regulatory compliance, and legal risk management.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, advocacy, leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada and able to provide a valid work or study permit where applicable.
• U.S. legal admission is an asset.
