Research Associate Co-Op - ICPS (Chemical-Mechanical Planarization)

Location: Aurora, Illinois, United States; laboratory-based, at least 80% of the time

Salary: $20–$30 per hour, depending on overall skills and experience.

What you will do

• Perform wet-lab, polishing, formulation, reliability, wet-chemistry, and instrument-based experiments for chemical-mechanical planarization applications.
• Execute experiment plans established by scientists and engineers.
• Conduct slurry and cleaning formulation characterization, measurement method development, and process development.
• Collect, analyze, and summarize experimental data using appropriate statistical methods.
• Propose conclusions and identify improvements to data collection, analysis, and quality.
• Maintain laboratory operations and follow safe laboratory practices.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a BA/BS or MS program in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field, with expected graduation in 2027 or 2028.
• Hands-on experience with wet chemistry techniques, laboratory instrumentation, particle and surface science analysis, including particle-size distribution, zeta potential, contact angle, and thin-film measurements.
• Experience with safe laboratory practices and methodology.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic statistical analysis using Excel, Minitab, JMP, or similar tools.
• Available to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., from January through June.
• Must be able to work in a laboratory environment at least 80% of the time, wear PPE, and occasionally lift approximately 40 pounds.
