Lab/Facility Chemist I (Environmental Waste)

Location: Harvey, Illinois, USA; onsite laboratory and facility work

Pay range: $27.90–$38.32 per hour, depending on locality.

What you will do

• Perform preparation techniques and instrumental analysis of hazardous and non-hazardous environmental samples.
• Analyze organic and inorganic constituents using approved EPA methods, SOPs, and Work Instructions.
• Prepare samples, analytical standards, instrument sequences, data processing, and required documentation.
• Perform basic instrument maintenance and repairs, method validation, and Initial and annual Demonstrations of Capability.
• Identify chemical content, research treatment studies, and support the development of formulas, processes, and methods.
• Maintain quality-control calculations, a clean and safe work environment, and accurate records.

Requirements

• Knowledge of chemistry principles, chemical analysis, evaluation, and waste-processing protocols.
• Knowledge of RCRA, TSCA, applicable state regulations, and waste-stream reporting software.
• Awareness of ISO and NELAC quality-management standards.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong attention to detail, data accuracy, communication, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills.
• Candidates without a degree are expected to have three years of relevant work experience.
