Claim Specialist - Property Field Inspection (Property Claims)

Location: Deschutes County/Bend, Oregon; candidates must reside within the listed service-area ZIP codes. This is a remote-field position combining home-based work with inspections from a mobile office or vehicle, in-person appointments, and occasional travel to other territories.

Salary: $63,089.65–$90,000 annually, plus potential yearly incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct on-site inspections of residential and commercial property damage, including accident- and weather-related claims.
• Meet with policyholders, explain coverage, estimate damage, and guide customers through the claims process.
• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000.
• Gather evidence, document findings, and prepare detailed claim reports.
• Evaluate policy coverage and negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits.
• Collaborate with policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders to resolve claims efficiently.

Requirements

• Ability to investigate problems, evaluate information, interpret policies, and make well-supported decisions.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and customer-service skills.
• Proficiency with mobile and desktop tools used for field and remote claim documentation.
• Physical ability to lift, carry, climb ladders, navigate roofs at various heights, and crawl in confined spaces.
• Valid driver's license; required training, licensing exams, MVR checks, and background checks must be completed.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, overtime, and irregular hours when required.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent property-claims experience.
• Knowledge of property insurance policies, claim handling, and residential and commercial construction.
• Water mitigation inspection experience.
• Experience with Xactimate and XactContents.
