Sr. Specialist, Project Steering & Control (Automotive)

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, or Novi, Michigan; 4–5 days per week in the office. Up to 30% domestic and international travel is required, along with regular in-person meetings and events. The implementation phase is associated with the production location in Blythewood, South Carolina.

Salary: $110,000–$135,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Coordinate purchasing deliverables, sourcing decisions, supplier readiness, and project reviews for new vehicle programs.
• Track material costs, investment, localization, sourcing status, parts availability, milestones, and project targets.
• Build communication networks across R&D, Finance, Operations, Project Buying, Commodity Purchasing, suppliers, and project organizations in Germany and North America.
• Drive early supplier concept competitions, RFQs, regionalization, local standards adoption, and forward-sourcing activities.
• Support tooling investment analysis, launch cost planning, budgets, benchmarking, contracts, amendments, and purchasing-related committee submissions.
• Resolve supplier, sourcing, cost, and launch issues while preparing management updates and leading project and timing workshops.

Requirements

• Ability to work in the Charlotte or Novi office 4–5 days per week and travel up to 30%.
• 8+ years of experience in purchasing, project buying, procurement, supplier management, program management, or automotive operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in business or an engineering field.
• Strong cost analysis, negotiation, business acumen, and knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, and technologies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
• Ability to manage changing priorities, lead cross-functional discussions, communicate complex situations, and work independently.

Nice to have

• MBA or comparable advanced degree.
• Vehicle launch experience at an OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
• Experience managing multi-million-dollar procurement projects.
