TL;DR
Sr Project Engineer (Aerospace): Leading medium-sized engineering projects and cross-functional teams for space and defense systems with an accent on systems integration, technical evaluations, supplier management, and cost and schedule control. Focus on balancing technical and programmatic constraints, managing project risks and performance metrics, and resolving complex issues across Engineering and Program offices.

Location: Louisville, Colorado, United States. The role is based at the listed location and requires eligibility to work under U.S. Government international trade regulations.

Salary: $143,700–$197,608.50 per year.

What you will do

  • Lead medium-sized technical projects and cross-functional engineering teams through design, development, integration, and implementation.
  • Balance technical, cost, schedule, quality, and programmatic constraints while delivering project outcomes.
  • Conduct trade studies and technical evaluations and provide estimation support for proposals, contracts, and Basis of Estimates.
  • Manage suppliers, Statements of Work, supplier issues, and return-to-green plans for supplier schedules.
  • Own risk, cost, schedule, KPI, and Technical Performance Metric reporting in support of Program Management Teams.
  • Coordinate with customers, stakeholders, engineering functions, and Program offices while mentoring junior engineers and resolving conflicts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, equivalent work experience, or a master’s degree with relevant experience.
  • Typically 8+ years of related engineering experience with extensive technical expertise and demonstrated leadership.
  • Experience leading technical teams and medium-sized projects across the development life cycle.
  • Strong project management expertise, including EVMS, CAM, or equivalent methods, plus risk and opportunity management.
  • Ability to manage complex engineering design evaluations and communicate technical concepts clearly across functional disciplines.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain required U.S. government authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Project management focus or PMP certification.
  • Experience with material acquisition, supply chain management, systems engineering, and integration.
  • Experience with MS Project, Primavera, CAD, engineering design tools, or product lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Lean methodologies, project budgeting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
