TL;DR
Senior Integration Engineer - Nuclear Process (Fusion Energy): Developing and integrating process architecture for a first-of-a-kind fusion energy system with an accent on nuclear process engineering, system interfaces, and mass and energy balances. Focus on integrating tritium processing, vacuum, cooling, heat transport, and utility systems, while resolving cross-functional technical issues and supporting safety analyses, commissioning, and operational readiness.

Location: Kearny, New Jersey, United States; on-site

Salary: $150,000–$180,000 per year

What you will do

  • Develop system-level mass and energy balances, process flows, operating conditions, and plant process architecture.
  • Define system boundaries, interfaces, subsystem requirements, and process requirements for normal, startup, shutdown, maintenance, and abnormal operating modes.
  • Integrate fuel-cycle and tritium processing, vacuum, cooling, heat transport, utility, and supporting systems.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, nuclear, safety, and other engineering disciplines to resolve cross-functional technical issues.
  • Support P&IDs, equipment specifications, interface control documentation, control philosophies, design reviews, FMEA/HAZOP activities, and safety analyses.
  • Support system integration, commissioning, operational readiness, and configuration management as the design evolves.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in nuclear, fusion, chemical/process, or other highly regulated process systems.
  • Experience developing PFDs, P&IDs, process architectures, and mass and energy balances.
  • Experience defining system interfaces and working across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Familiarity with nuclear safety, configuration management, and formal engineering processes.
  • Ability to work on-site in Kearny, New Jersey.

Nice to have

  • Experience with tritium processing, nuclear fuel-cycle systems, isotope processing, or fusion fuel-cycle systems.
  • Experience with vacuum, gas handling, cryogenic, or high-purity process systems.
  • Experience working in a dynamic, first-of-a-kind development environment.
