TL;DR
Manager, Mechanical Engineer - Reactor Internals (Nuclear): Leading the design and integration of reactor internals for the XE-100 advanced nuclear reactor with an accent on mechanical design, engineering resource management, and design authority responsibilities. Focus on directing multidisciplinary teams, resolving technical differences, coordinating suppliers, and ensuring compliant engineering work products support manufacturing, construction, and licensing.

Location: Rockville, Maryland, with the work site at 9801 Washingtonian Boulevard, Gaithersburg, Maryland. ; standard hours are 8:00am–5:00pm ET, Monday–Friday. Travel may be required up to 10%.

Salary: $185,000–$207,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Manage the engineering group responsible for designing and integrating XE-100 reactor internals.
  • Serve as design authority for a subsystem or group of components.
  • Lead mechanical design, analysis, evaluation, and hardware ownership activities supporting advanced reactor plants.
  • Coordinate engineering resources, partners, and suppliers across multiple projects and design-cycle sprints.
  • Resolve technical differences and guide decisions involving complex engineering and manufacturing challenges.
  • Maintain design documentation, configuration data, design-control procedures, and internal and external design reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline from an accredited university or college.
  • Typically 10 years of engineering experience; graduate degrees generally count as more than two years of experience.
  • Experience designing and developing mechanical or fluid systems, assemblies, or components.
  • Experience with hardware ownership, manufacturing and testing oversight, CAD, and PLM software.
  • Knowledge of tools such as UG/NX, SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer, Teamcenter, Windchill, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to work on site four days per week in the Gaithersburg, Maryland office.

Nice to have

  • Professional Engineer license.
  • Nuclear design, reactor operations, or nuclear navy experience.
  • Nuclear reactor internals experience.
