Senior Virtualization and Storage Engineer (New York)

Location: New York, United States

Annual base salary: $225,000–$325,000, plus variable year-end compensation.

What you will do

• Lead the build-out of a new virtualization platform, including proof-of-concepts and migration paths from existing platforms.
• Own and maintain production virtualization platforms and storage solutions.
• Ensure system availability, performance, and efficient resource management.
• Develop automation and tooling to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
• Plan and execute virtualization and storage migrations with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of hands-on experience building and supporting production compute platforms.
• Expertise with open-source virtualization platforms and technologies such as KubeVirt and Kubernetes, with strong KVM and Linux experience.
• Experience with storage systems, SAN technologies, storage protocols, and at least one software-defined storage platform.
• Ability to develop automation and tooling in Python or Go.
• Strong communication, organization, time-management, independent execution, and initiative ownership skills.
• A degree in computer science or another technical discipline is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with commercial virtualization platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V.
