hirify.global operates a kraft mill with recovery and utilities operations supporting pulp and paper manufacturing.

What you will do

  • Lead the Utilities Department in achieving health and safety, operational, production, and manufacturing cost targets.
  • Maintain efficient recovery operations across the recovery boiler, evaporation and stripping systems, tall oil, and turpentine recovery.
  • Develop and implement training programs to improve quality, efficiency, and capital upgrade execution.
  • Participate in monthly operations and budget reviews.
  • Maintain an active dialogue with the union and build a positive relationship between the Utilities and Maintenance departments.
  • Work with department superintendents, process engineers, Utilities Management, and Shift Superintendents.

Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada when applying.
  • Hold a 1st or 2nd Class power engineer certificate, or a chemical or mechanical engineering degree with high-pressure boiler experience.
  • Previous experience managing employees in a unionized environment.
  • Supervisory experience, sound decision-making, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and organize, plan, prioritize, and delegate work.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
