Mechanical Engineering Trainee (Mining/Industrial Projects)

Location: Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. The role is based in the Niagara Falls office and may involve work in other hirify.global offices, project job sites, and remote sites, with travel as required.

Salary: CAD 78,000–81,000 per year, plus potential performance-based incentives and benefits.

What you will do

• Perform calculations for mechanical equipment design in industrial buildings and processes.
• Prepare equipment specification packages and construction work packages for review and use by internal and external stakeholders.
• Learn and apply mechanical equipment, analytical software, piping systems, specifications, and discipline workflows.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, designers, technologists, and other project groups.
• Participate in office and site safety training and inductions.
• Perform field verification and provide support during construction while travelling to project sites as needed.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing graduation in 2027 or recently graduated with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong understanding of engineering and business fundamentals applied to engineering problems and projects.
• Ability to learn quickly, take on new challenges, and adapt to change.
• Collaborative approach with strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Critical and creative thinking, problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and a focus on practical solutions.
• Transcript, official or unofficial, must be submitted with the application.

Nice to have

• Previous mechanical engineering co-op, summer work-term, or internship experience.
• Academic or work experience with AFT Fathom, Ansys, Sidewinder, MathCAD, or Bentley MicroStation CAD software.
