Automotive Lead Technician

Location: Rapid City, United States; on-site automotive service role

Pay range: $21.69–$47.24 per hour through a performance-based flat-rate compensation model. A $2,000 payment is available at 90 days.

What you will do

• Diagnose and repair brake, hydraulic, exhaust, fuel, ignition, electrical, suspension, steering, alignment, air-conditioning, computer, and drivetrain systems.
• Explain technical diagnoses and required repairs to customers without mechanical backgrounds.
• Lead, assist, and train technicians and mechanics in technical work.
• Maintain current automotive knowledge through paid formal training.
• Obtain or maintain ASE certifications in at least five A1–A8 areas within the first two years.

Requirements

• Must work on-site in Rapid City and hold a valid automobile driver's license.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing brakes, steering, suspension, alignments, general automotive systems, and tires.
• Ability to drive customer and company vehicles and communicate technical information clearly.
• Required federal, state, and local certifications or licenses where applicable.
• Reading, writing, and math skills.
• Must complete Form I-9 employment eligibility verification; temporary work authorization or sponsorship needs may disqualify applicants.

Nice to have

• Experience with electrical and electronic systems, engine repair and performance, transmissions, drivetrain systems, or automotive heating and air conditioning.
• Five years of automotive repair experience, third-party assessments or certifications, or completion of a vocational-technical program.
• ASE certification in at least three A1–A8 areas, preferably brakes and steering and suspension.
