Lead Automotive Technician

Location: 010340 Broadway; onsite automotive retail service location

Pay range: $21.69–$47.24 per hour under a performance-based flat-rate compensation model. A $2,000 sign-on bonus is available.

What you will do

• Diagnose and repair brake, hydraulic, exhaust, fuel ignition, electrical, suspension, steering, alignment, air-conditioning, computer, drivetrain, and transmission systems.
• Explain technical diagnoses and recommended repairs to customers without mechanical backgrounds.
• Assist with and train technicians and mechanics on technical activities.
• Stay current with automotive technology through paid formal training.
• Obtain or maintain ASE certifications in at least five A1–A8 areas during the first two years.

Requirements

• Valid automobile driver's license and ability to drive customer and company vehicles.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing brakes, alignment, steering, suspension, general automotive systems, and tires.
• Current federal, state, and local certifications or licenses where applicable.
• Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people, with reading, writing, and math skills.
• Five years of automotive repair experience, demonstrated skills through third-party assessments or certifications, or completion of a vocational-technical program.
• Employment requires completion of Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; temporary work authorization or the need for sponsorship may disqualify candidates.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of electrical and electronic systems, engine repair and performance, automatic or manual transmissions, and automotive heating and air conditioning.
• ASE certification in at least three A1–A8 areas, with brakes and steering and suspension certifications preferred.
