Automotive Technician A Tech

Location: 014087 Cedar Rapids Lindale, United States; onsite automotive service work

Salary: $22.90–$48.16 per hour under a performance-based flat-rate compensation model. A $2,000 sign-on bonus is available for first-time hires.

What you will do

• Diagnose and repair brake, hydraulic, exhaust, fuel, ignition, electrical, suspension, alignment, air-conditioning, computer, and tire systems.
• Explain technical diagnoses and required repairs to customers without mechanical backgrounds.
• Complete paid formal training to stay current with changing automotive technology.
• Assist with and train other technicians and mechanics on technical activities.
• Obtain or maintain ASE certifications in at least five A1–A8 areas within the first two years.

Requirements

• Valid automobile driver's license and ability to drive customer and company vehicles.
• Demonstrated skills in brake repair, alignment, steering and suspension, general automotive maintenance, and tire repair.
• Current federal, state, and local certifications or licenses where applicable.
• Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people, with reading, writing, and math skills.
• Employment requires completion of Form I-9 verification; temporary work authorization or the need for sponsorship may disqualify applicants.

Nice to have

• Experience with electrical and electronic systems, engine repair and performance, transmissions, drivetrains, or automotive heating and air conditioning.
• Five years of automotive repair experience, third-party certifications or assessments, or completion of a vocational-technical program.
• ASE certification in at least three A1–A8 areas, preferably brakes and steering and suspension.
