Senior Robotics Engineer (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Location: Seoul, South Korea; onsite role. The position may include limited flexibility depending on business needs and role expectations. Travel within Asia, including Korea, Japan, China, and Taiwan, may be required.

What you will do

• Lead the mechanical design and development of high-reliability vacuum robotic systems for semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
• Own robot architecture from concept through detailed design, applying first-principles engineering to performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Conduct and review structural, stress, fatigue, lifetime, vibration, modal, and dynamic analyses for robot and drivetrain systems.
• Collaborate with controls, software, applications, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and product management teams on motion control, tuning, integration, and system trade-offs.
• Lead failure analysis and corrective actions using 5-Why, Fishbone, and 8D methods.
• Support hands-on builds, bring-up, qualification, design-for-manufacturing, design-for-cost, and transition from R&D to volume production.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience designing robots or precision mechatronic systems for high-reliability or mission-critical applications.
• Expertise in mechanics, dynamics, vibration, fatigue and lifetime analysis, and system modeling for motor and drivetrain selection.
• Experience delivering new products from concept through manufacturing release.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools and finite element analysis tools; Creo experience is preferred.
• Ability to read and write technical documentation in English; the role is based onsite in South Korea.

Nice to have

• Experience with vacuum robots, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, semiconductor OEM customers, or contamination-sensitive and clean-room designs.
• Experience with motion control systems, servo tuning, and robot performance optimization.
• Mandarin Chinese language capability.
• Experience in Asia-based engineering or manufacturing environments.
