Field Service Engineer (Pathology)

Location: US-CA-Remote Location-Bay Area; ideal candidate resides in the San Francisco, California metro area. Territory coverage includes Northern California, Southern California, Nevada, Utah, and the Pacific Northwest as needed. The role includes frequent customer-site work, 80% travel, 50% overnight travel, and may require weekend work, overtime, and additional overnight travel. Remote work is also available.

Salary: $40.80–$63.75 per hour, plus bonus, stock, and benefits.

What you will do

• Install and optimize pathology and genomics hardware, software, networking products, and configurations at customer sites.
• Diagnose and resolve product performance problems involving instruments, operating systems, applications, and peripherals.
• Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and proactive interventions to prevent customer business interruptions.
• Advise customers on preventive maintenance and configurations while ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Manage technical escalations and collaborate with Support, Sales, Marketing, and R&D teams.
• Deliver technical training, maintenance seminars, and workshops for field engineers or customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or other university-level degree in a science field such as biochemistry or biotechnology is highly preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• At least 1–2 years of experience with analytical instrumentation, including repair, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
• Experience with pathology handling equipment, specifically IHC instrumentation, and ideally medical diagnostics.
• Familiarity with service standards under ISO 13485.
• Strong problem-solving, written and verbal communication, and customer relationship-building skills.
• Valid driver’s license, ability to lift 60 lbs., extensive travel, and compliance with customer/vendor credentialing and site-access requirements are required.
