Lead Electrical Engineer (AI)

Location: Must be based in or able to work from Austin, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, or Seattle (Hybrid)

Salary: $260,000 – $310,000 + Equity

What you will do

• Lead the clean-sheet design of wholly-owned metal-clad MV switchgear platforms.
• Deliver production-released, fully type-tested lineups meeting IEEE C37.20.2 and C37.09 standards.
• Manage high-power laboratory type-test campaigns, including short-circuit, internal arc, and temperature rise testing.
• Define platform ratings, protection, IED integration, and racking/interlock architecture.
• Lead a dedicated engineering team through design, testing, and compliance efforts.

Requirements

• Proven experience designing metal-clad MV or GIS switchgear at an OEM as the accountable engineer.
• Demonstrated success taking switchgear designs through full type-test campaigns at high-power labs.
• Expertise in insulation coordination, bus bracing, and creepage/clearance decisions.
• Experience integrating third-party breaker elements into end-to-end owned enclosures.
• Strong leadership skills in guiding product teams from concept to production release.
