TL;DR
Senior Electrical Engineer (Robotics): Integrating electrical systems across robotic platforms with an accent on EMC, grounding, shielding, power electronics, sensor integration, and signal integrity. Focus on debugging complex hardware in the lab, validating motor driver and sensor electronics, and making system-level tradeoffs across performance, reliability, cost, manufacturability, and schedule.

Location: San Mateo, United States

Base salary: $140,000–$230,000 USD per year

What you will do

  • Own electrical system integration across robotic platforms from concept through production.
  • Define grounding, bonding, shielding, filtering, cable, and signal-integrity strategies.
  • Identify and mitigate EMC risks, and debug hardware using scopes, spectrum analyzers, probes, LISNs, network analyzers, and other lab equipment.
  • Collaborate with firmware and hardware engineers on motor drivers, power electronics, and sensor electronics.
  • Integrate IMUs, encoders, hall sensors, and temperature sensors at the PCB level.
  • Make system-level tradeoffs across performance, risk, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and schedule while partnering with multidisciplinary teams and external labs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field, plus relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience taking electrical hardware from concept through validation and production.
  • Experience with EMC/EMI design, debugging, and testing on complex hardware.
  • Strong knowledge of grounding, shielding, filtering, signal integrity, power integrity, and PCB design.
  • Proficiency in power electronics, including motor drives, switching power, high-current DC systems, and battery management.
  • Experience with sensor integration, RF systems, antenna integration, impedance control, communication interfaces, laboratory debugging, and rapid test-fixture development.

Nice to have

  • Experience working across electrical, mechanical, firmware, controls, systems, and manufacturing disciplines.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to make decisions with incomplete or changing requirements.
