TL;DR
Field Service Engineer (Northumbria) (Medical Diagnostics): Installing, maintaining, repairing, and decommissioning diagnostic analysers and automated track systems in hospitals and pathology laboratories with an accent on fault diagnosis, preventative maintenance, and customer-focused technical support. Focus on troubleshooting complex medical equipment, maintaining safety and performance standards, and providing on-call support across Northumbria.

Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom; predominantly covering Northumbria, with travel to customer sites up to 100% of the time.

What you will do

  • Diagnose faults, repair, maintain, modify, install, and decommission diagnostic medical equipment.
  • Support immunoassay, chemistry, and haematology analysers, as well as automated track systems.
  • Represent Beckman Coulter on site and deliver professional, customer-focused service.
  • Maintain equipment to high safety and performance standards in NHS and private healthcare facilities.
  • Partner with customers to resolve technical issues and maximize instrument usage.
  • Participate in a planned on-call rota for out-of-hours remote customer support.

Requirements

  • Field Service experience in a laboratory or comparable environment servicing diagnostic instrumentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills with proven customer-focused service experience.
  • Relevant BSc, HND, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Biomedical Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Full UK driver’s license required.
  • Availability to travel to customer sites up to 100% of the time.

Nice to have

  • Experience with instrumentation software, firmware modifications, and upgrades.
  • Experience using service reporting software.
  • Knowledge of medical device regulations and compliance requirements.
